INGREDIENTS: (Makes just
over 500gms/18ozs)
500gm table margarine (or softened butter)
10-12 cloves garlic (less if you are not that fond of garlic)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 dsp fresh chopped chives or parsley – (optional)
1 garlic press
METHOD:
Get margarine (or butter) out of its container and place in a mixing bowl.
Peel the garlic and cut into pieces small enough to fit in the garlic press.
Crush garlic directly over margarine in mixing bowl.
Add Parmesan cheese and chives (or parsley) and mix well with a large fork.
Return garlic butter into original container and use to prepare delicious
garlic bread.
(Amount is enough for 6 X foot-long French sticks)
Slice each stick into 2cm (3/4″) thickness.
Spread mixture on boths sides of each slice.
Arrange slices upright neatly on a piece of alluminium foil (large enough to
wrap the whole stick).
Wrap to seal neatly and bake in a hot oven for approx 12 – 15 mins.
Keep unused portion of garlic butter refrigerated for cooking vegetables.
Wash and prepare vegetable of your choice (broccoli, snow peas, green beans,
etc) for cooking.
Put a generous dollop of garlic butter into a saucepan, add vegetable and 1 dsp
of water.
Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stir occasionally.
When the vegetable is cooked to your taste, sprinkle a little chicken stock
powder, stir and serve immediately.
